Springtime is always a great time to visit Turkey. Additionally, Istanbul has been named the 2010 cultural capital city of all Europe! This year's Spring Break Turkey Trip is open to both students and parents in seperate groups. It will be during Spring Break and 10 days! There will be a presentation in October regarding that. This trip including everything costs as follows;
Science Olympiad Team had a lock-in at the school this Friday, September 24th. We started working on Science Olympiad events with coaches and students. Also we watched a movie, had pizza, and did an experiment. Science Olympiad team will work after school and Saturdays to get ready for upcoming competitions during . We will probably go to Jacksonville, Orlando, Atlanta(GA) to join some activities and tournaments this year.

High Touch-High Tech® will come visit our 6th grade Science classes on October 7th! They will do 'Reaction Attraction' event which is the coolest attraction in town! Students will have fun as they discover the world of chemistry. High Touch-High Tech® offers fun, educational, hands-on science in the form of 50-75 minute "in-school field trips". High Touch-High Tech® scientists will provide all equipment and materials in this supply intensive science experience. Students will receive educational handouts and/or take-home science experiments.

Students, Parents and Faculty had a lot of fun at the family picnic last Saturday. Everyone loved the grilled chicken Mr. Omay cooked. Thanks to everyone who organized and participated to the picnic. We hope to see more parents participate to other events and activities throughout the year.
September 20, 1565 - Spanish forces under Pedro Menendez de Aviles capture the French Huguenot settlement of Fort Caroline, near present-day Jacksonville, Florida. It was the first instance of colonial warfare between European powers in America. Below is a picture of the reconstructed Ft. Caroline.
This week, the 6th graders are studying Chapter 2, Water, Climate and Vegetation. We are paying particular attention to climate zones, and how they affect weather and vegetation. We will be reviewing and having a test on Chapter 2 on Friday.
